Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) is any form of communication or interaction between two or more people via separate computers through network connection.

1. Started in the late 1980s and 1990s with the introduction of Communicative CALL 
2. Became widespread with the use of Email and Forums 
3. Internet Chat Rooms in the mid 1990s allowed direct communications 
4. Is implemented for long-distance teaching/learning 
5. Recent increase in popularity of e-tutoring through forums and video conferencing

ASYNCHRONOUS CMC means 

1. Communication is not synchronised 
2. Messages are not exchanged and replied to immediately (or not expected to) 
3. E-mails, most social media, internet forums and message boards, blogs

CMC AND LONG DISTANCE LEARNING

1. In the late 2000s, CMC was implemented for distance learning
2. Synchronous communications allows teacher and learner to interact without being in the same location 
3. Video conferencing and E-tutoring

COLLABORATIVE LEARNING

1. Computers can help enhance peer interactions and group work

Search Engines and Online Database is a system where people can find literally anything on th World Wide Web or simply WWW.

1. A web tool that enable user to find any information using keywords
2. Every search engines have their own database

Search Engines have 4 key elements such as

1. Database that store references from webite
2. Web Crawlers or Spiders to compile indexes of webpages
3. User interface
4. IRS or Internal Retrieval System

Within Search Engines they have specialize part of searching that basically focuses more on certain subject such as

1. Google Scholar
2, Education World
3. Art Cyclopedia
4. Pipl.com

Meta search engines is a type of search engines that included searches from various search engines in one place such as

1. Meta Crawler
2. Savvy Search
3. Dogpile

World Wide Web have 3 parts which is

1. Surface web - the website that we usually visited on our daily basis
2. Deep Web - Includes personal and confidential information of users
3. Dark Web - Place where all illegal activities taken place. Only accessible by TOR browser

CALL or Computer Assisted Language Learning. CALL is basically  about software used in Language Learning.

b. For computer mediated communication there is two type which is

1. Asynchronous
2. Synchronous

c. Computer can also be used as tutor and teach others in learning English such as

1. Word games
2. Text reconstruction
3. Paced reading
4. Pronunciation practice

d. CALL can be used as stimulus and stimulate student to engage in discussion, critical reading and many more

1. Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) is a term used to refers to the area of technology and second language teaching and learning
2. It covers any process in which a learner uses a computer and, as a result, improves his or her language
3. It involves material designs, technologies, pedagogical theories and modes of instruction

CALL have their own specific program such as

1. Application program
2. ELT Software
3. Games

As for Generic software they have as follows

1. Windows Words
2. Powerpoint
3. Publisher and E-Books

Web based learning software also available such as Wikipedia, online dictionaries, magazines, news websites and blogs.

As a conclusion, CALL is the important materials that helps student to learn and become better in Engish Language
